Gen-Z fashion designer, Leen Mattar, decided to carve out her own unique path after university by launching her brand Lilo in 2022. Sayka Abbas is a big believer in celebrating every version of yourself as you navigate through your life’s journey. She creatively infused her mindset into a homegrown fine jewellery biz consisting of contemporary collections that serve as a reminder of self-love. Confession: Here at Cosmo ME, we are *majorly* over-the-top obsessed with acai. As in, we can never, ever get enough. One of our fave female-owned businesses for a delicious and healthy bowl is All Things Acai. Created and owned by Nadia Mansour, All Things Acai stands out because their bases are pure, meaning they don’t mix their acai with other fruit fillers. They also top their bowls with fruit that’s sliced to every order. Even the granola and peanut butter are made in small batches to ensure they’re consistent in taste, texture, and quality.

You can seriously taste all the love, time, and dedication infused in every bowl. Plz, don’t judge us for ordering All Things Acai from Deliveroo and Talabat every single day. It’s just *that* great.

Taira Dubai

Dubai-based British fashion designer Taira Adil is asking us to celebrate our inner queen with her sustainable luxury resort brand, Taira Dubai. Our answer? Yes plz! Her fashion-forward debut, aptly named the Sovereignty Cruise Collection, features modest swimwear that is made of soft-touch, UV-protection, four-way stretch, and dry fit materials. We personally love the attention to detail in all the pieces. From embellishments like sequins and beads to innovative concepts like a watersport jumpsuit that can also be worn to brunch (genius), Taira Dubai is one of Dubai’s freshest female-owned businesses that legit has it all.

FoxySkin

Founded by Cholpon Djusueva, Foxyskin is an eco-conscious online beauty shop that not only carries products that make us look beautiful, but are sustainably sourced as well. Cholpon’s mission is to provide skincare, haircare, and cosmetic products that contain little to no plastic content. We personally love the O’Right hair brand as well as the Rut Essentials oils (peep our latest print issue to see why) carried on their platform. We can all benefit (Mother Earth included) from purchasing from one of the region’s cleanest female-owned businesses.

Palem

Gorgeous, sustainably made clothes and accessories at incredibly affordable prices? Yes plz. We guarantee that you and your besties will be heading the Dubai’s best brunches and ladies’ nights adorned from head-to-toe in breathable, eco-conscious Palem apparel in no time.

Palem is the creation of French fashion designer, Juliette Barkan, and originated in Singapore with the intention of bringing high quality, comfortable, and stylish clothes into the lives of women around the world. Lucky for us Cosmo ME readers, Palem has just opened its doors in the new Goshi Warehouse district in Al Quoz.

Katya Kovtunovich

This female-owned fashion brand planted its roots in Dubai in 2012, two years after Katya Kovtunovich moved out to the UAE. The designer has made a name for herself creating famous Sadu tunics and beach dresses, which have been recognised by the UAE government, and are now even sold at the Expo 2020 and Burj Al Arab.

The traditional Bedouin textiles and airy dresses have been worn by the likes of ~Lady Gaga~. (Would it be too cheesy for us to say “yaaas Gaga” RN?)

Veganologie

Veganologie the brand co-founded by Angana and Sara during the pandemic, makes accessories out of 100% vegan, recycled, and sustainable materials. Their cross-body bags are made from 11 plastic bottles, wallets from 4 plastic bottles, and cardholders from 2 plastic bottles. If that wasn’t enough, their dust bags are also sustainably made from 10 recycled plastic bottles.

We love a brand we can count on for sustainability right from the product to its packaging.

Glossy lounge

Glossy lounge, the brainchild of Natasha Zaki, owner of Glossy Makeup, renowned beauty entrepreneur, and makeup artist, is a wardrobe essential where functional fashion and sustainability go hand in hand. Second Summer Label

Resort wear inspired by the unbridled hedonism and free spirit of Ibiza, started by the trio Carmel, Amy and Jodi. Think of a dreamy understated, timeless label that delivers wardrobe-defining staples designed to make women feel naturally confident and sexy. Olfaction

Who doesn’t love a good scent that has the ability to transport you to a holiday full of adventures and dreams? Olfaction is one such brand that creates hand-poured natural soy wax candles that have the ability to capture memories and emotions. We also love how the beautiful pot that the candles come in is made from cut-off material from furniture production, which means, not only is it gorgeous, but it is also sustainable.

Skin Story is one of our top emerging female-owned businesses in the beauty sector that we’ve come across this year. Founded by two sisters, their products are 100% vegan, cruelty-free, non-toxic, and perfect for sensitive skin. Their innovative products consist of multi-use sticks for lips, eyes, or cheeks, perfect for those who love a natural makeup look with minimal products.

Sugargram

The Dubai-based and woman-founded Sugargram is a bite-sized cupcake company ideal for lovers of all-sweet things.
