I don’t know about y’all, but I *live* for reality TV. Everything from the drama to the occasional wholesome moments, I’m obsessed with. And I have to say, I find myself enjoying relationship-related reality TV more than I do KUWTK (no shade to the Kardashians, Lord knows how entertaining they’ve been). Maybe it’s because I’m a sucker for love or maybe it’s because they’re just that good. That being said, I was obsessed with Love is Blind. It was fun, unique and even cute, what was *not* to love about it? Well, if you’re anything like me and you’re looking for your next binge. I’ve got you! Read along for a list of my top four reccs.
Love Island UK
This is my personal fave on the list and I’ll tell ya why! Love Island is quite literally the best show on TV, period. Basically, a bunch of boys and girls are put into a beaut villa with no contact to the outside world. During their time in the villa, they have to couple up with one another in hopes of finding the love of their lives and winning the show. If at a recoupling, somebody does not get picked – they get booted and their holiday gets cut short. With new arrivals showing up out of the blue, fun challenges that will have you howling with laughter and drama won’t allow you to take your eyes off the screen – this is literally the perfect show for you. Also, the narrator might just be the best part. I genuinely don’t think I’ve found anyone that hilarious in my lifetime. Whether you’re rewatching the old seasons or gearing up to join me and watch the 2021 one, brace yourselves because you’re about to become a Love Island addict.
Too Hot To Handle
Quite literally too hot to handle, this show is allll about how much you *can* handle. The most eye-pleasing singles are thrown into a villa to get to know each other, but there’s one catch. To win the grand prize of $100,000, they have to refrain from touching each other and basically, remaining celibate. But the catch was, the contestants didn’t know that’s what they were signing up for. The first season was entertaining, full of life and a nice addition to our watchlist. Also, they had great music. Do yourself a favour and look up their tracklist for the perfect summer playlist to jam to, you’re welcome!
The Circle US
The Circle is a reality show where each contestant gets their own apartment (how neat, right?), but the catch is, that’s the only place they can be. And all their communication with fellow contestants is done through a special social media app linked to their TV. Contestants are only able to speak to one another via message therefore, they can choose to be themselves or be a catfish. As the series goes on, contestants are able to rate one another from best to worst and those in the bottom are at risk of getting elimanated. The top two highest rated contestants become influencers and can choose to block anyone else aka have them elimanated. And boy, let me tell you – the creators of this show thought of it all. Whoever gets elimanated receives the chance to visit one other person’s apartment, talk about ~confrontation~. Lastly, a day after their elimanation, a video is shown to the rest of the contestants, revealing them as either themselves or catfish. Sort of survival of the fittest in some sense, right? It’s a little complex but that’s why it makes the show all the more stimulating.
Ex On The Beach/Celeb Ex in the City
Imagine yourself enjoying on a tropical beach, perhaps even with a dreamy beau you might be cracking on with, only to be interrupted by… well, your ex. Yup, that’s quite literally what this show is all about. Cast members begin relationships on their beach vacation, until they’re met with a surprise entrance from their exes. And if this sounds like its up your alley, the show’s spinoff, Celeb Ex in the City, will probably satisfy your reality TV cravings just as well. The spinoff follows the same premise but in a slightly different format. For starters, the cast members are celebs, including Love Island, The X-Factor and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’s stars. And since it happened during COVID-19, it was filmed with social distancing guidelines in place at a restaurant in London as opposed to on a hot, sunny beach elsewhere.
