Remember the conservatorship that trapped Britney back in 2008? Yep, it’s still relevant.
So, on Wednesday afternoon Britney publicly addressed, virtually, the 13-year-long conservatorship helmed by her father, Jamie Spears that grants him access to all her assets. However, in a public statement she revealed:
“I just want my life back,” she said. “I’m not here to be anyone’s slave.”
“I’m traumatized, I’m not happy, I can’t sleep,” she said. Spears said her frequent playful posts on her Instagram account were fabricated so as to not worry her fan base. “I’m so angry. And I’m depressed. I cry every day,” she added.
Britney’s plea was on the grounds of public scrutiny around her mental health, her convoluted relationship with her father and her decline in her ability to perform. “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, including my management … they should be in jail”, she backed herself up.
Lastly, the singer aggressively expressed her desire to be able to do what she wants to do – “It’s not OK to force me to anything I don’t want to do”, the singer said. The former sensation also said she wanted to get married again to current beau Sam Asghari and have another baby but wants the contraceptive device planted on her to be removed but is not permitted because “they don’t want me to have any more children”, she said.
The unusually long conservatorship has come under increasing worry from her fanbase in recent years thanks to the viral hashtag #FreeBritney, which was entailed a 2021 documentary and a number of leaked court documents.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, #FreeBritney.
