With less than 2 weeks left for the premiere of HBO’s new show The Idol, Sam Levinson reportedly confirmed during the show’s afterparty at the Cannes Film Festival that Alexa Demie will be making an appearance in the show as Euphoria‘s Maddy Perez again and that both the shows are set to be within the same universe.

What is Maddy Perez doing in The Idol?

Sam Levinson reveals that the Latina actress will make an appearance as Euphoria’s character Maddy Perez in a scene where Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) and Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye) meet in one of the episodes of The Idol. Many fans are theorising the scene is set to be in a club where she makes a brief feature as a woman hanging around – this could be the character Tedros’s own nightclub where he’s meant to meet Jocelyn.

Despite the controversy surrounding the show’s premiere following Abel Tesfaye’s revisions to the initially claimed to be “female-gazed” plot, which resulted in a lot of bad publicity, fans cheered all over again to see one of the most adored TV characters ever once more.

Post the departure of Barbie Ferreira (“Kat” on Euphoria) there were rumours about Alexa leaving Euphoria due to “behind-the-scenes issues” as well. However, fans are jumping with excitement now again as speculations of her following Lily-Rose Depp (the actress playing the character “Jocelyn”) and Jennie Ruby Jane (K-Pop idol and now actress, playing the character “Dyanne”) on social media last year now have become solid fact after Sam’s confirmation about the crossover episode. Everyone’s most excited to see BLACKPINK’s Jennie Kim and Alexa Demie together in the same frame at some point, how ICONIC would that be!
