Euphoria Season 2 has already landed on our screens, and by now we’re sure that you’ve watched the first episode of the hit series’ second season (if you haven’t then wyd?) The beginning of season 2 is definitely a chaotic one, what with a whole fight breaking out, Maddy, Cassie, and Nate’s love triangle, and Rue and Jules’ reunion. No, really, Rue’s “damn” at the end of the episode is as accurate as it gets.
If this first look at Euphoria Season 2, which was released Monday night on OSN, is anything to go by for the rest of the show, then we better get emotionally and mentally prepared.

Esquire Middle East’s Digital Editor, William Mullally, sat down with the show’s biggest characters: Maddy, Cassie, and Lexi, to give us a bit of insight as well.

Scroll down below to read how Alexa Demie, Sydney Sweeney, and Maude Apatow’s characters will change for Euphoria Season 2.
William Mullally: How would you describe the changes that season two brings for your characters?
Sydney Sweeney: I mean, I think the stakes are raised for everybody. We all go through really intense moments and the anxiety is up and things are heightened. Maude, you went through so much, especially towards the end.
Maude Apatow: Yeah, I think it’s definitely heightened a lot more for every character.
Alexa Demie: I mean, this season is just a lot more intense in the decisions that each character is making and how they affect the other characters. The decision that one character makes can greatly affect another character. And that just raises the stakes for everyone.
Maude Apatow: And there are a lot more consequences in this season. Everyone’s making decisions, and you get to see the consequences of all of their actions a little bit more and how they deal with that.
WM: How do your characters develop this season?
Sydney: She struggles with wanting to be the perfect girl for Nate. And that’s her journey throughout the season.
Maude: My character is definitely not a very sexual character. But this season is definitely trying to explore that side of her a little bit more. I think her journey of self-confidence will help her in her future relationships.
WM: How do you think Nate will affect the relationship between Maddie and Cassie?
Alexa: Their sisterhood seems pretty broken after that.
Sydney: It’s definitely shattered.
Alexa: It’s totally shattered, there’s no going back.
Sydney: I don’t know, I want to try and glue it together.
Alexa: Well, you better try hard baby.
WM: Do you think of this as just a ‘Gen Z’ show?
Sydney: I think that it’s important for all generations, actually. I think that yes, we depict teenagers and their characters are teenagers, but they go through emotions and situations that I think can carry across all generations that either you’re going through right now you’ve gone through before. So I think it’s important for everybody.
If this season of Euphoria is as ‘intense’ as the actresses say, then we *really* aren’t ready.
Stay tuned every Monday for a new episode.
