Euphoria fans, listen up. There’s a new hard-hitting HBO Max series on the way in the form of The Idol – arriving on screens *soon*.

The darkly hard-hitting series tackles a world of fame, following the story of a pop singer who becomes intertwined with an LA club owner and cult leader – with the trailer teasing the show as “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood”.

The Idol is Euphoria creator Sam Levinson’s latest venture, teaming up with popstar The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) who also stars in a lead role. Lily-Rose Depp and Troye Sivan are on board too, and this one is promising to be big!

Is there a trailer for The Idol?

There is indeed! HBO dropped the first official teaser on 17th July, including our first look at The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp in action, Have a watch here:

What is The Idol about?

HBO haven’t given a whole load away yet, but the story is set to follow a pop singer (Lily-Rose Depp) as she finds herself starting a relationship with an LA club owner and cult leader, played by The Weeknd. If the initial teaser is anything to go by, the series is set to get pretty intense, and we’ll be waiting for more plot intel.

Who is starring in The Idol?

There are plenty of big names lined up for this one! Of course, The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp take the lead. Australian singer, actor and YouTuber Troye Sivan is also starring, alongside Disney channel favourite Debby Ryan.

Producers have also teased a role for BLACKPINK singer Jennie Kim, with fans beyond excited to see the pop star take to the screen in her acting debut.

When is The Idol expected to be released?

Sadly, there’s no official release date just yet. However, HBO Max has teased that the series is “coming soon” to the streaming platform. So here’s hoping “soon” = very soon.
