Thrifting, vintage, pre-loved fashion, whatever you want to call it, it’s on the up. Shopping for vintage and pre-loved fashion is becoming more and more accessible here in the UAE with brands such as RETOLD setting up boutiques and online stores where you can browse and purchase pre-loved designer items (many with a hefty discount against RRP) and also sell pieces too. This way of shopping is super sustainable and also means that you can search for things you missed in sell-out collections or find a unique vintage piece that no-one else will have.

Across the Middle East the amount of sites selling pre-loved luxury fashion are rising fast, such as The Luxury Closet which is an online store for high fashion items. All pieces are authenticated and they hold more than 80,000 items, so whether it’s some YSL Tribs or Chanel classic flap bag you’re looking to invest in, you’re sure to find it in this fashion treasure trove. TLC have had a super impressive 80% growth year on year, which is good news for our bank balances, our wardrobes and the environment!

Here comes the exciting news; the Luxury Closet have announced this week that they have partnered up Huda and Mona Kattan! Huda Beauty Investments has become one of the shareholder in the company,  with Mona also joining the board, and TLC has received investment from HB Investments which is the private investment company owned by The Kattans.

“Sustainability is one of our primary focuses and a core tenant for the HBI portfolio” said Huda. “In our continued effort to champion responsible and eco-friendly businesses, we couldn’t be more enthusiastic about our partnership with The Luxury Closet”. Mona added “I have always been an advocate of circular fashion and I am very excited about our endeavours with The Luxury Closet”.

Both and Huda and Mona know exactly what their talking about in this industry too, as they both have purchased luxury items from vintage stores. “At the beginning of our entrepreneurial journey, we did not have the means to purchase (luxury) items and thus opted for vintage and second-hand shops”, the beauty moguls said. “I’m very pleased to be part of the board alongside like-minded individuals and a business that offers a unique service that fills a major gap in the market” Mona concluded.

Do you think this means we could find some Kattan-worn pieces on the site? Because we’ve really had our eye on Mona’s yellow Gucci bodysuit this week…
