If you’re into fashion with purpose, storytelling through style, or simply want a unique evening out in Abu Dhabi, Threads of Heritage might just be your next outing.

On until May 3rd at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi on Reem Island, this free exhibition dives into the history of Emirati women’s fashion and jewellery – from the elegance of the early 20th century to modern interpretations today. A mix of history, creativity, and culture, all wrapped up in fabrics, gold, poetry, and stunning craftsmanship.

Think: jewellery making a statement louder than your Friday night group chat, bold colours, dreamy textiles, and golden embroidery. The collection combines old-school glam from the early 1900s with modern takes that are just as slay-worthy.

Curated by textiles expert Dr. Christophe Moulherat, the exhibition is as part of the UAE’s Year of Community 2025 and really does feel like something bigger than a fashion display.

You’ll walk through: Stunning dresses over the decades, traditional jewellery, real-life stories, poems, and even actual travel diaries. The 1970s also have their own dedicated space – showcasing an era in UAE history, especially in women’s roles and identity.

It’s rare to find something that’s both stylish and meaningful, and this one truly delivers on both. Whether you’re a student, a creative, a fashion lover, or just curious about the region’s culture – definatly worth adding to your list before it wraps up.
