Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, Expo 2020 is expected to be delayed to 2021. The year-long postponement comes after all major events around the world, from the Met Gala to Coachella to the Olympics, have been cancelled or postponed to halt the spread of COVID-19.

The confirmation is expected to be announced later today, following a meeting between officials from the United Arab Emirates and foreign countries who were set to participate, according to Reuters.

Expo 2020 was set to kick off this October in Dubai, and was expected to bring in an estimated 11 million overseas visitors.
