One of the biggest fashion events of the year has officially been postponed due to coronavirus.
The star-studded red carpet event will not be taking place as usual on the first Monday of May. It’s no surprise that this huge event in the fashion calendar won’t be taking place anytime soon, following plenty of worldwide event cancellations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The 2020 MET Gala isn’t the first global event that has been affected by this pandemic, the UAE has also taken similar precautions in cancelling and postponing events, suspending university classes and closing down major attractions within Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The most fashionable party of the year, hosted by the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is widely known for showcasing some of the most beautiful gowns, and gorgeous celebs. However, according to Vogue, an internal email was sent out to Met staffers today announcing that the museum “will remain closed through Saturday, April 4.”

Last year’s MET Gala theme was Camp: Notes on Fashion, which gave us Lady Gaga’s iconic wardrobe changes on the red carpet. And let’s not forget Kylie and Kendall Jenner’s purple and orange gowns which gave us major FOMO.
This year, the theme was announced as About Time: Fashion and Duration.
Looks like it’ll definitely take some time before we see any of the celeb’s outrageous outfits this year.
