Love is Blind season 5’s reunion is about to come out (!!!) on October 16, and we’re *super* excited to see this season’s contestants come back to our screens together. It’s safe to say that this season was a rollercoaster of emotions, with only two couples actually making it to the altar, but the single candidates this time around have v. v. diverse jobs and backgrounds.
Enter Miriam Amah, the Nigerian scientist who hails from the States, and has been worldwide. This Love is Blind cast member has worked in Saudi Arabia, vacationed around the Middle East, and is an entrepreneur to boot. Impressive to say the least.

Cosmo ME: Describe your experience on Love is Blind in three words…Â
Miriam Amah: Fun, emotional, and different.
Cosmo ME: There was some confusion on the show due to production on your career, so could you please clear that up and tell us about your inspiring career journey?
Miriam Amah: I am a chemist. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from the University of Houston-Downtown and my Masters of Science in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University.Â
I began my career in Houston, working as an analytical chemist in the oil and gas industry. Then I went into the pharmaceutical industry before moving to Saudi Arabia, where I worked at KAUST, a renowned research institution. At KAUST, I worked with post-graduate students on polymer research.Â
At the time of filming, I was still working in Saudi Arabia, but I had partially moved back to Houston. Right now, I’m fully living in Houston.Â
Cosmo ME: How was your experience working in Saudi Arabia?
Miriam Amah: It was an amazing experience. I learned so much about the beautiful and diverse Arab culture. I made some lifelong friends and learned some Arabic phrases (LOL).Â
It was also great to see so many expats from literally every continent. Now, I have friends in different parts of the world.Â
Cosmo ME: What misconceptions about the Middle East did you have, and how were they debunked?Â
Miriam Amah: I thought Middle Easterners were going to be serious and super strict. But I was wrong. My Middle Eastern friends are so fun and know how to have a GREAT time! They’re also quite hospitable and make fantastic hosts. Â
The dress code in Saudi was also much more progressive than how the media portrayed it to be. I love the relaxed way of living over there. The work-life balance was simply wonderful.
I also loved seeing so many women in the workforce, performing exceptionally at their different roles.

Cosmo ME: Where are your favourite travel spots in the Middle East?Â
Miriam Amah: Dubai is definitely one of my favorites. There’s always something fun and breathtaking to do in that city.Â
Al-Ula is another favorite. I love how it perfectly incorporates contemporary architecture in the midst of ancient history. Being there feels out of this world.
Cosmo ME: What inspired you to create your skincare brand Zack & Lucy?Â
Miriam Amah: I had inflammatory skin and I couldn’t find a moisturiser that could resolve that issue. I also didn’t like the harmful chemicals and additives that are used in most store-bought lotions. So, I wanted to create clean, plant-based moisturisers that are great for the skin, eco-friendly, and supportive of women entrepreneurs in West Africa. That’s how Zack & Lucy was born.Â
I’m so thrilled with all the positive reviews we have gotten so far and I’m motivated by the love that customers have for our products. I have exciting plans for Zack & Lucy, so this is just the beginning.Â
Cosmo ME: Do you have any regrets from Love is Blind? If so, what were they and what would you have done differently?Â
Miriam Amah: Yes! I absolutely regret that infamous scene from episode 1. I wish the producers didn’t edit my conversation that way because it made me seem so questionable and incoherent. That is the exact opposite of who I am. Unfortunately, there’s not much I could do about it because the power still lies in the hands of production.
However, I am thankful for the connections I have made through the show and I have amazing friendships with some of my cast mates.Â
