Cosmo ME: What were the struggles you faced as a woman in the field of racing?

Cynthia: It’s always hard for a woman to prove herself in what is traditionally a man’s world. I have faced this a lot throughout my racing career. With hard work, a ton of sacrifices, and my family’s support, I was able to reach where I am today.

Cosmo ME: What’s the best part of being a racer?

Cynthia: That’s my favorite question, I can talk for days about it but in a nutshell, it’s everything to me. It’s my ultimate passion, getting behind the wheel takes me to a totally different world and brings a lot of positive emotions. It’s simply heaven to me.

Cosmo ME: What was your favorite part of The Fastest series?

Cynthia: The Fastest was a great experience because it’s the starting point of my career in drag racing which I have always been passionate about. Being among professional racers from different age groups and with different interests gave me the opportunity to get to know more racers in the Middle East who share the same passion and love for cars and racing.

Our love and passion for motorsports made us all learn from each other’s experiences and solidified our relationships throughout the show.

Cosmo ME: Who’s your inspiration to keep going on in your career?

Cynthia: I find inspiration in many amazing racers, but if I had to choose one, that would be James Dean, the world drifting champion. His drifting career has always motivated me. Since the day I’ve met him in Oman, I’ve had a sticky note on my fridge in the kitchen that says “One day I will compete with James Dean.”

Cosmo ME: How does it feel to be in Netflix’s first Arab reality TV show?

Cynthia: It’s amazing. It was a dream coming to life because I have the opportunity to share my story and experience on Netflix, which will be seen by the world. I am excited that me and the other contestants get to be a part of The Fastest, the first Arabic reality show which highlights the importance of motorsport in the Arab region.

Cosmo ME: What are the common misconceptions of being a racer?

Cynthia: Being a woman and racer doesn’t take away from my femininity or from being able to look after myself. I am proud of the women in the Middle East, who have proven their love and passion for this sport and won international and local championships.

Cosmo ME: Which participant are you the closest to from The Fastest?

Cynthia: Ali Makhseed, because we were the drifters in the first race, so we shared similar expertise.

Hamda as well, as we were the only girls at the start. It was great to see other women on the show who share the same passion.

Cosmo ME: What advice would you give to aspiring female drag racers?

Cynthia: To every woman out there, I’ll say just go for it and give it your all. Follow your dreams and never look back. You can achieve whatever you want if you put your mind to it.

Cosmo ME: We were heartbroken when you were eliminated from the competition but were glad when you said at the end, “I definitely won’t stop now. I’ll push myself further and fix this car that broke me.”

Could you tell us more about how did you overcome the loss and what are your future plans as a racer?

Cynthia: Well, I had only two weeks to prepare my car, and doing an entire swap within this short period of time was very challenging. Unfortunately, my car broke down at the last minute, sure I wanted to stay more in the competition but this is the world of motorsports and we should accept it as it is. Now after I had that short period of ‘warrior rest’ as they say, I have fixed my car and it’s ready to fly again.

I’ll keep racing till the end of time, that’s what my heart always beats for.
