Drake went from Aubrey to Ahmed real quick.
In today’s news of celebrities (especially artists,) showing appreciation for anything remotely Arab, Drake has just shown some major love to Dubai.
In his ‘Lemon Pepper Freestyle,’ Drake doesn’t just show his love for Dubai, he even basically discusses how close his friendship is with the UAE Royal family.
The lyrics read: “And that’s facts, Hamdan Mohammed like my third cousin (Facts.) Mansoor Mohammed like my real brother (Facts.) Dubai embrace me like a Emirati (Facts.)”
It’s no secret that Drizzy has always been tight with Sheikh Mansoor and Sheikh Hamdan Al-Maktoum, the sons of the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum.
And this isn’t the first time that the chart-topping rapper has given major love to the Middle East. Just last year he released an OVO fashion line in support of Lebanon, and in his ‘Only You Freestyle‘ he straight up spoke Arabic. We can’t forget the lyric “look like Youssef, look like Hamza.” Iconic.
The Canadian star has also visited Dubai countless of times, and has fit in perfectly – probably because (ngl) he could definitely pass as an Arab man.
In his previous songs like “Free Smoke,” he rapped ‘I want to move to Dubai, so I don’t never have to kick it with none of you guys.” And now with his three latest music releases, he name-dropped the UAE once again. Three days ago he released ‘Scary Hours 2,’ which includes three new singles, two of which include features by Lil Baby and Rick Ross.
We might as well just claim him as one of us now!
