Every February and September, our Insta feeds are overloaded with Fashion Week content. While this might cause some people to feel Fashion Week fatigue, I’m highkey obsessed with it. I loooove seeing all of the nail trends that come off the runway, and the Spring 2020 shows did not disappoint. They gave us a ton of manicures that you’re going to want to copy ASAP, from animal prints to updated French manis. If you’re one of those people who feel overwhelmed by all the show content, don’t stress—I combed through the looks to find the 15 most inspo-worthy manis that you’re going to see everywhere this season. Get on these looks before your friends do.

1

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Artistic Stripes

If spring 2020’s nail trends are all about having fun, this style from Pyer Moss is leading the charge. Instead of staying inside the lines, pick a couple of your fave colors and create an ~artsy~ striped nail look.

2

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Double-Tipped French Mani

You heard it here first: French manicures are going to be BIG in 2020. But, they’re coming back with a little twist. Instead of going for the basic style you did in middle school, try out this super double-tipped version, seen at Kith’s Spring 2020 show.

3

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Rich Browns

Wait, did you think rich neutrals were only a fall/winter thing? Um, no, you don’t have to wait for the temperature to drop to wear these tones. A brown nail color, seen here at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show, is a perfect way to stand out amongst all the pastels and bright colors this season.

4

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Minimalist Accents

Want to get in on the minimalist vibe without going the French mani route? No problem, since itty-bitty accents—like Miss Pop’s white dots at Oscar de la Renta—are on the rise, too. Consider this spring nail trend the low-key way to try out nail art.

5

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Creamy Hues

I mean, does anything feel more inherently ~spring~ than creamy nail polishes? Nail artist Miss Pop sent models down the Oscar de la Renta runway with the prettiest combinations of oranges and pinks against taupes and creams.

6

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Micro French Manicure

Unlike the blunt French manis of the early aughts, though, the 2020 version is super subtle and dainty, like Betina Goldstein’s micro interpretation at the Khaite show (think: minimalist white tips and ultra-glossy bases).

7

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Maximalist Accents

And on the totally flip side, maximalist accents (like, over-the-top jewels and glitter nail polishes) are worth paying attention to if you’re into the statement-making trends. I personally will be using Naomi Yasuda’s super-extra nails from the Bibhu Mohapatra show as my ultimate spring 2020 inspo.

8

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Animal Prints

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: Animal prints are going to continue throughout 2020, and not just on your midi skirts. Yup, your nails will also be getting the animal treatment, as seen on the super-bold manicures at the Jeremy Scott show (courtesy of Miss Pop, again).

9

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Pastel Yellow

I know, I know—pastels for spring? Groundbreaking. But seriously, this super-dreamy shade of creamy yellow is going to be ev-ery-where come spring, and I’m not mad about it. Before you book your mani appointment, make sure you take a peek at Jinsoon’s inspo-worthy work from the 3.1 Phillip Lim runway.

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Mixed Mediums

View this post on Instagram

The FRENCH MANI: the great debate of 2019. If people are saying it’s back, that means that it first had to leave. And some people say that it never left-that it’s a “classic”. . So, how do we know who’s right? Perhaps we should ask those who set the trends, in the fashion capital of the world (aka the creative directors and major stylists and editors and magazines like @voguemagazine and @harpersbazaarus and @allure AND the celebrities who are wearing the look again after a long absence, like @badgalriri and @bellahadid ) and yes…. editorial manicurists like myself who’s very job it is to set. nail. trends. . Yes, they went away. No, they’re not a classic. And yes, they’re back.☺️ . Nails designed by me with Christian Siriano for @essie for the @csiriano show, Saturday, September 7, 2019 … … … … … #christiansiriano #christiansirianoss2020 #frenchmanicure #pastelnails #turquoiseandcaicos #setinstones #essielove #essienyfw

If you’re indecisive as all hell, you’re going to love this mixed-medium manicure trend for spring 2020. Julie K. sent models down the Christian Siriano runway with mint-green polishes, matte tips, and lucite, sparkly bases. Kinda the best of both worlds, right?

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Metallics

Heavy metal is in, folks, as proven by Marian Newman’s ultra-long, metallic nails at the Julien Macdonald show. If acrylics are kinda your thing, prepare to try out this spring 2020 nail trend immediately—it was practically made for long-ass nails.

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Barely There Polish

Upon first glance, the Jinsoon manicures at the Coach show seem…non-existent. If you look more closely, though, you’ll see the models walked the runway with barely there polish against clean, healthy nails. If this is a trend for spring 2020, pls sign me up.

13

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Pearl Tips

Not over pearls? Good, me either. Among the many inspo-worthy spring beauty moments at Alice and Olivia (did you SEE the lavender sprigs in the models’ hair?!), Gina Edwards’s pearl-accented nails ranked pretty damn high.

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Negative Space

Mabelyn Martin—the creative director behind NYC’s Insta-famous nail salon Paintbox—was responsible for the cool negative-space manicures at the Ulla Johnson show. Like, sure, negative-space nail art is always a thing, but the subtle orange nail polish in this look feels extra fresh.

Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Matte Polish

Gina Edwards’s combination of animal-print nail art and matte nail polish for the Rebecca Minkoff show was unreal. Even if the animal print feels a little extra for your aesthetic, there’s no reason you shouldn’t try out a clean, matte-polish manicure for spring 2020.
