There are some absolute gems out in Festival City and Pierre’s Bistro & Bar is definitely one.
Located in the Intercontinental Hotel, Pierre’s offers an unobstructed view of the Dubai Creek where diners can relax next to the water and enjoy the fountain and light show every 30 minutes.
The restaurant is cosy without inducing claustrophobia and the music is relaxing and set to a perfect volume so you aren’t required to scream at your dining partner – if many other Dubai venues could take note that would be great.
The menu is uncomplicated and unpretentious while still offering a delectable dining experience. To start, you cannot go wrong with smoked salmon, sarasson soft cheese and Italian toast; the tuna tataki and crispy rice; and the seasonal mushrooms with garlic butter, smoked duck breast, walnuts, green velouté. The portions are perfectly sized and easily shared.
For mains, if you feel like something light, try the cacio e pepe tortellini for a small bowl of decadence or the roasted scallops, cream and Parmesan leek fondue are equally exquisite.
The must-try dessert is the apple tart, whipped cream flavoured with calvados and praline ice cream. With a prep time of 45 minutes, you are urged to place your order at the start of the meal. Seven layers of delicately thin pastry alternate with slices of apple in a golden disc that is almost too beautiful to eat.
Although the menu is unfussy, the experience is heightened by resident expert Unni Krishnan is on hand to recommend the best pairing for each dish – highly recommended.
Finally, let's talk price point. The menu is reasonably priced considering the quality of the food and the overall experience.
