Trailblazing businesswoman and previous Cosmo cover star, Emaan Abbass, announced in a recent podcast interview that she has had to stop operations of her successful feminine wellness brand, Ketish, due to factors out of her control.
Ketish has revolutionized the feminine wellness space in the Middle East since its launch in 2021, backed by Huda Kattan’s incubator program HB Angels. With a focus on empowering women to explore their femininity, the female-focused hygiene and wellness brand was the first of its kind in the region, with a successful product line that launched in Sephora Middle East in 2022.

Emaan Abbass announces the closure of feminine wellness brand Ketish
Speaking on an episode of The Native Informant podcast, Ketish founder Emaan Abbass announced the unfortunate closure of her brand,
“Unfortunately we’ve had to stop operations with Ketish. It was something that was very unfortunate very unexpected, and very much out of my control. [It is] still a very tough pill for me to swallow.”
Over the past few years, Ketish became a revolution among Middle Eastern female empowerment brands, taking back power in a place where women have not been able to do so.
Emaan outlined, “the sole mission behind the brand was…to provide a safe space to provide women with the education and the resources, and access to experts to truly understand their feminine health in a way that removed those cultural barriers that so often get in the way, especially in Middle Eastern culture, that get in the way of our understanding.”

The closure of Ketish will come as a disappointment to many women in the region. For Emaan, the closure marks a new chapter in her journey to helping women discover their self-empowerment;
“Although…it makes me sad to have to close that chapter outside of my control, it makes me excited for this next chapter to unfold because I know that my mission is not done…I’m still walking in this vein of my mission, it might not be with the same vehicle as Ketish, but I’m still able to work in this space”.

What’s next for Emaan Abbass?
Emaan revealed on the podcast that she will utilize her experience in building Ketish to help other female founders with their own self-empowerment businesses,
“I now have the opportunity to work with other brands and other founders, largely female founders and women in business that want to create brands and products within those brands of impact…I now get to pour all of those learning with these other brands and founders that I’m now working with”.
Although we’re sad to see Ketish go, we’re proud of Emaan’s trailblazing journey and can’t wait to support her next endeavors.
