Is it just us or have the last two years been a hyaluronic acid and honey-infused blur? Although it seems like it just launched a few months ago, Huda Kattan’s skincare brand, Wishful, just turned two. We recently caught up with Huda to chat about how it feels to know that the Wishful beauty brand has been positively impacting our skincare routines for two whole years *and* to get a sneak peak as to what’s coming our way from her influential skincare brand.

It’s all in the name
To recap on the last two years, we needed to start with the basics. Why did Huda name her brand Wishful? “Growing up, I always felt like there were things that I could improve about my skin and always wished to have beautiful skin. So, with Wishful we wanted to grant, not only mine but our community’s skincare wishes, so with each product there’re specific wishes we work towards granting – that’s why it’s called Wishful.”
“You know the reason I created Wishful is to address the things that I wanted to improve about my own skin, so to hear that it works for so many people is such a dream. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Sweet as honey
One thing we’ve noticed since lockdown days is how focused the beauty community has become on ingredients in their products. It’s no surprise that Huda is too. In fact, she tells us that her fave ingredient in the Wishful beauty brand family is honey.
“Honey is one of my favorite ingredients and we’ve infused it into several of our Wishful products. Honey is delicious, but honey is also an incredible skincare ingredient. It has antibacterial properties, and it delivers a boost of hydration – since it’s a natural humectant. It also has healing properties and beauty benefits that are gentle and nourishing for all skin types.”
Knowledge is power
Huda confesses that she didn’t learn until later on about the importance of applying skincare products in the correct order. (Supplied)
We’ve all had some skincare slip-ups in our lives. (Confession: when we were teens, we stanned alcohol-laden astringents). We were curious to know what common skin misconceptions she finds when educating her customers and fans about skincare. “It is a huge misconception that acne is a skin problem that affects only teenagers, but even as an adult, I definitely struggled with acne.”
And what about Huda herself? We have to imagine she’s learned a thing or two on her own skin journey. “It’s not so much a misconception that I had growing up, but as I got more into skincare as an adult, one of the things that were an epiphany to me was learning to layer my skincare products in the correct order.”
“Something as simple as switching up the order in which you apply a product will impact how effective they are, so that’s something that I definitely learned about, applied and that has seriously improved the effectiveness of my skincare routine.”
Huda’s top skincare tip for Gen-Zs and Millennials
“In your 20s, 30s, and 40s hydrate. If you’re a skincare novice, hydrating your skin is probably the most important that you can do at any age. So, our Wishful Thirst Trap Serum is great to use after cleansing followed by a moisturizer.”

“We actually have two honey-infused moisturizers: our Honey Whip Peptide Moisturizer and our Honey Balm Jelly Moisturizer that both hydrate but have individual benefits depending on what you’re looking for. Then following your moisturizer, I always love to seal all of the hydration in with an oil, so our Wishful Get Even Rose Oil is perfect for that.”

We had to know how Huda is treating her skin rn. As in today, today. She told us “the first thing I do is cleanse my face with the Tactcha The Deep Cleanse in the shower. Then I usually use my Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub because my skin gets dryer in the winter. After cleansing, I grab my Clinique Lotion Two toner and then prep my skin with an essence, which is my favorite part of my skincare routine.”
“After that, I use my derma roller and immediately apply our Thirst Trap Juice Serum, after which I use our Wishful Honey Whip Peptide Moisturizer. My final product application is our Wishful Get Even Rose Oil to seal in all the goodness that I’ve applied during my skincare routine.”
Wishes and wants
So what’s Huda’s second birthday wish for Wishful? “My wish for Wishful’s birthday will be to continue to be able to impact the lives of everyone who tries our products and to give people confidence about their skin, for people to feel like they’re beautiful.”
