Shave your toes? You know what we’re talking about and sis, it’s time to fess up. Have you ever noticed your toes were looking a little, dare we say, furry? Upon closer inspection, you had a major ~wtf~ moment when you saw wild-looking strands of hair growing straight out of ’em (especially the big one)? If you’re like us, you probably went straight to the shower, grabbed your trusty razor, and gave those toes a good shaving.

Take a deep sigh of relief, girl, and know that you’re not alone. And fyi, if you have to shave your toes it means you’re healthy.

We wanted to find out why toe hair felt the need to enter the WhatsApp chat group of our lives. We hit up Doctor Shruti Kakar, a Specialist Dermatologist from Medcare Medical Centre, Al Barsha to get the low down on this hairy situation. Dr. Kakar told us that “as women, we are expected to be hairless, however, nature plays games with us and there can be hair on the most bizarre places.” Well, she certainly got that right.

“Look down and you will find hair on your toes. But there is nothing to worry about as it’s perfectly normal. In fact, it is a sign of good blood circulation.” Phew. So toe hair means we’re healthy and thriving? “Yes, it means that blood and oxygen are optimally and continuously flowing throughout your body. Your organs are functioning properly.” Okay, we’ll take that toe hair as a consolation prize to looking like Big Foot’s sister.

In true doctor form, Dr. Kakar did let us know that there are times when it is good to get our toe strands checked out. “There can be a few conditions where it might be thicker and more in number. This can be from adrenal disorders, ovarian disorders, or while on certain medications.”

“If you feel alarmed by an increase in the amount of your toe hair, make an appointment with your health care provider to get assessed.” Btw, if you’re naturally bald down there, it’s chill. “Having no hair is completely normal too.”

Or not. If you want to get rid of your strands, by all means, go for it. “You can safely shave your toes” at home with a razor and some shaving gel. Dr. Kakar also shared that “if you want a smoother texture you can go in for laser hair removal.”
