If there’s one thing Netflix does exceptionally well, it’s true crime. Very exciting news then, that their latest weird and twisted true crime documentary, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, is set to air in just a few days.

Here’s everything you need to know about this dark little tale. Buckle in, it’s a weird one…

What’s the plot of Tiger King?

Tiger King tells the story of Joe Exotic, a gun-toting, mullet-ed, polygamist who lives in Oklahoma where he runs a huge roadside zoo, housing a huge number of tigers, lions, bears and other animals. Joe is famous within the industry; he’s a country singer, a misogynist and a notorious eccentric, but as the story unravels his dark secrets come to light, when we learn about his rivalry with local animal rights activist, Carole Baskin, whose murder Joe is accused of plotting.

Do we have a trailer for Tiger King?

Yes, and you can watch the trailer on Youtube. Plus there’s a lot we can get from it. First things first, I know I keep saying it, but the story looks absolutely mad. It starts by introducing us to Joe Exotic, who even in the notoriously eccentric ‘big-cat community’ is considered an odd-ball. He owns over 1,200 animals in his huge zoo, and says of himself “I’m outspoken, good-looking and I love to party and have fun.”

The trailer ramps up quickly, mind you.

Who’s behind Tiger King?

If you weren’t already sold (how?!) the show comes from the studio that brought us Fyre, the documentary about the failed festival from 2017 which saw it’s founder, Billy McFarland convicted of defrauding investors out of $27.4m (approx. Dhs100.6m)

If, like most of us, you simply cannot get enough of the scandal that was Fyre Festival, this may very well be your next dose of drama.

When is Tiger King going to be released?

Good news scandal-squad, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is coming to Netflix on 20th March. Giving you just enough time to come up with a convincing excuse to cancel your social plans. Dreamy.
