Expo 2020 Dubai is pushing the UAE forward in a progressive direction, in more ways than one.

From innovation and invention, to sustainability – we can’t to see what the Expo has in store! One of our favourite announcements that’s already been revealed is PepsiCo’s partnership with Expo 2020 to launch fully recyclable, co-branded Aquafina aluminum cans and glass bottles. 

Not only will UAE residents be able to drink unbelievably refreshing water sustainably, but PepsiCo has also announced that as Expo 2020 Dubai’s Official Beverage and Snack Partner, it will work closely with Dulsco – Expo’s Waste Management partner to ensure waste from PepsiCo’s products is collected and recycled, supporting Expo’s target of diverting a minimum of 85% waste away from landfill. Diverting waste from going to landfill? We love to see it! 

PepsiCo is also inviting people to participate in Aquafina’s Say Yes challenge on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. What does that mean for you? It’s simple. Log on to your social media – snap how you’re up to the challenge (try Aquafina in a can, tag AquafinaME, and encourage others to do the same!). You can also take Expo’s 15 second poll to let them know what simple change you’ll make.

This isn’t the first time PepsiCo and Aquafina have focused on being sustainable either. For Global Recycling Day this year, the company announced that they will collect and recycle the equivalent of 100% of Aquafina plastic packaging produced in the UAE in 2021. Now with a new design and packaging, Aquafina’s cans will be easier to recycle, and will encourage local residents to do their part for our fight against global warming and climate change.

The President and General Manager at PepsiCo MENA and Pakistan, Aamer Sheikh, said: “Consumers are more motivated than ever before to make conscious choices and minimize their impact on the environment. A good product is no longer enough – products must have purpose and if that purpose is authentic and tangible, consumers will choose it time and again, because the brand cares about what they care about. For us, sustainable packaging and making recycling more accessible, is the way to go as we build a world where packaging never becomes waste.”
