Besides sharing their journeys to the homeland with Leen, Anwar and Vin went on to talk about their documentary ‘Walled Off.’ It’s meant to share the struggles of Palestinian people with a much bigger audience. The creation of this documentary is what inspired Vin to pursue film as a college major. He wanted to create something that helped the world understands what Palestinians struggle with— whether they live in Palestine, or are living abroad. What are the outcomes of being outspoken about the Palestinian movement on social media and in real life?
“Throughout my life, I heard all the stories from my father and my teta, you know, just everyone in my family. I was hearing these stories, and I didn’t fully grasp what was happening, I didn’t really grasp the idea that basically, all these things are still happening, and the plight of the Palestinians is an ongoing fight, and that we’re still dealing with it today. I felt a little bit hopeless, in the sense of I felt like I really couldn’t do anything, to really help these people. And all I really wanted to do was to help” said Anwar Hadid during the Preserving Palestine episode.
