Palestinian and Dutch supermodel Bella Hadid has always been outspoken about the injustices happening in Palestine, even if it costs her followers and brand deals.

The model has previously been vocal about her stance on Palestine and has shared with her 51 million followers on Instagram what’s been going on, how to help, and just to educate themselves about the struggles that her Palestinian sisters and brothers face.

Just yesterday, Instagram ‘shadowbanned’ Bella as she was sharing IG stories and posts of young Palestinians being attacked while praying at the Alaqsa mosque during Ramadan. In case you’re unsure of what a ‘shadow ban’ is, it’s an unofficial term for when Instagram deprioritises your account on the app.

Here’s what Bella Hadid had to say about the shadowban…

“My Instagram has disabled me from posting on my story — pretty much only when it is Palestine based I’m going to assume,” she said in a statement on her Instagram story. “When I post about Palestine I get immediately shadowbanned and almost 1 million less of you see my stories and posts.”

“If you really would like to silence me, just like the journalists, or really anyone trying to educate about Palestine, Instagram, I will continue to come forward with peace, showing factual information about how the IDF, Israeli government, and Settlers attack innocent Palestinians for no reason, except for simply being Palestinian.”

Bella Hadid is known for her passion for her home country, in which her father was denied the opportunity to grow up. The model has shared over time the story of how her father became a refugee, and how she hopes one day she will be able to visit her homeland.
