Last night, Palestinian-Dutch model Gigi Hadid took to her Instagram to announce that she’ll be donating the entirety of her fashion month earnings to aid those in Ukraine and Palestine. Although it’s obviously fashion week season across Milan, Paris, and New York RN, Gigi Hadid‘s carousel post was *not* focused on a fit or a runway. She expressed that “having a set Fashion Month schedule has meant that my colleagues and I often present new fashion collections during heartbreaking and traumatic times in history.”
She continued, “we don’t have control over most of our work schedules, but we would like to walk ‘for’ something. Following in the footsteps of my friend @micarganaraz, I am pledging to donate my earnings from the Fall 2022 shows to aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine.”
Argentinian model Mica began this movement a week ago amongst the high-fashion supermodel industry saying that “It feels very weird walking fashion shows knowing there’s a war happening in the same continent . . . I will be donating part of my earnings of this fashion week to help Ukrainian organizations.”

Gigi Hadid followed her announcement with “our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion. At the end of the day, innocent lives pay for war-, not leaders.”

This isn’t the first time that Gigi Hadid (or her sister Bella,) has shied away from politics and real topics on their social media platforms. Bella Hadid is even using her platform of almost 50 million followers to share relief effort pages and organisations for Ukraine and Palestine.
