Is the new rule of 14-day quarantine mandatory in Dubai?

Although other Emirates, such as Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, force tourists to stay 14 days in a lockdown (even with a negative PCR test), Dubai does not. But landing in Dubai and moving to another Emirate will force the 14 days quarantine at that Emirate.

Is Dubai a safe place to travel to at the moment?

In a word, yes. The World Travel and Tourism council has recognised Dubai as a ‘safe destination’, giving the city a Safe Travels stamp that validates the stringent hygiene and safety protocols that the city has put in place. Of course, we know that whilst the virus still exists there is a chance that you could catch it anywhere. However, as long as you follow all guidelines and precautions, Dubai is considered a safe city to visit.

 

Are there any restrictions on movement within Dubai?

No, there are no restrictions on movement within Dubai. Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management announced the completion of the National Sterilisation Programme, allowing free movement all day and night (subject to compliance with government measures), on June 24th.

When will tourists be welcome?
Dubai is currently open for everyone from all over the globe.

Will there be any precautions in place for tourists?
Yes. All tourists are required to present a recent Covid-19 negative certificate or undergo testing at Dubai airports upon arrival. All Covid-19 positive cases will be isolated for 14 days, and airlines have the right to prevent passengers from boarding planes if they show symptoms of Coronavirus. International health insurance, Covid-19 test and a completed Health Declaration Form are all mandatory for all tourists visiting Dubai to ensure that there is no further spread from foreign countries.

Are facilities in Dubai open?
The vast majority are, yes. The last few months have seen the re-opening of swimming pools, escape rooms, cinemas, theatres and the majority of bars and restaurants. We would advise checking each venue’s policies on masks, social distancing and bookings in advance before visiting.

Will the airport lounges be open?
Yes, Marhaba has reopened two of its airport lounges at DXB, one in Terminal 2 and one in Terminal 3. They have increased precautions in place, including new safety ambassadors.Â
