Redken All Soft Mega Shampoo, Dhs76
Moisturising strength: 9.5/10
What I thought: Redken’s cult All Soft collection has been reimagined for even drier, straw-like hair. So if, like mine, your hair has been bleached to the moon and back, invest in a bottle of this shampoo. Yes, I know it’s not the cheapest, but this range is famous for bringing dry, brittle, broken hair back to silky softness – and I can personally vouch for it’s effectiveness. My 4-month-old chemically-treated hair extensions feel almost new again.

Josh Rosebrook Nourish Shampoo, Dhs157
Moisturising strength: 7/10
What I thought: This shampoo is organic and made from 100% naturally-derived ingredients, so if you’re into clean beauty products, it’s well worth checking out. Yes it’s expensive for shampoo, but you only need a little bit of the rich formula to cleanse hair, so one bottle will last and last. Made with plant oils and herbal extracts, it softens dry hair as well as stimulating follicles to encourage strength and growth. Clever, huh?

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo, Dhs21
Moisturising strength: 7/10
What I thought: Aussie’s cult formula is infused with Macadamia Nut Oil that promises to nourish mega-dry, frizzy hair, and it does. It’s not quite as rich as some of the others, but I noticed a definite softness after the first wash. With almost 400 5-star reviews on Boots.com, it seems like I’m not the only one that loves the formula.

Kérastase Aura Botanica Micellar Shampoo, Dhs22
Moisturising strength: 6/10
What I thought: There are no sulfates, silicones or parabens in Kérastase’s Aura Botanica Shampoo, in fact 96% of the ingredients are natural, so if you want an everyday hydrating shampoo without any harsh chemicals, this is one to try. Unlike many other natural shampoos, this one gives a luxurious lather that gently cleanses whilst hydrating. It’s not suuuper-moisturising, but a good everyday alternative that gives a dose of hydration without weighing down fine strands.

Pureology Hydrate Shampoo, Dhs57
Moisturising strength: 9/10
What I thought: The OG of hair hydration, this shampoo delivers bags of moisture to dried out, straw-like strands. I’ve been using this stuff ever since I started bleaching my hair, because not only is the formula sulfate-free and vegan it delivers an instant silkiness to rough, brittle ends. Plus, if your hair is colour-treated the anti-fade complex actually helps to keep highlights looking fresh for longer.

LUSH NEW Shampoo Bar, Dhs32
Moisturising strength: 7/10
What I thought: If your hair is particularly weak, dry and breakage-prone this little shampoo bar will help save it. After loving this one, I let my flatmate give it a go on her super-thin locks, and after a couple of uses she’s vowed to never go back to regular bottled shampoo. Not only is the plastic-free formula environmentally-friendly, but the cinnamon, clove and peppermint ingredients help to stimulate your scalp and promote hair growth. My flatmate swears it’s responsible for her hair’s extra thickness.

Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo, Dhs54
Moisturising strength: 10/10
What I thought: This moisture-rich shampoo has no sulfates or parabens (yay!), it helps to repair dry, damaged or over processed hair by nourishing weakened strands with raw shea butter and argan oil. If you’re transitioning back to your natural afro hair, this shampoo will help ease the process by keeping dry, curls from feeling brittle.

IGK Smoke & Mirrors Conditioning Cleansing Oil, Dhs122
Moisturising strength: 9/10
What I thought: Curly girls will love this rich, coconut oil hair cleanser. The balmy formula melts into scalp and gently cleanses hair without stripping strands or feeling greasy on the roots. Sweet almond oil strengthens and adds gloss back to parched ends, whilst nourishing coconut oil smooths frizz and adds moisture. I loved it.

Leonor Greyl Cleansing Treatment Cream Shampoo, Dhs95
Moisturising strength: 8/10
What I thought: More than just a shampoo, the soothing cream formula is perfect for calming sensitive scalps, as well as nourishing and cleaning dry, damaged hair. After an annoying dandruff flare up, this treatment shampoo helps nurse hair scalp and hair back to it’s former glory.
Plus, the French brand are known for creating high-quality natural products without any preservatives or sulfates.
