Wdym, “sequel”? Greta Gerwig’s Barbie isn’t even out yet.
Yeah, but Margot *might* have hinted at a likely future for the Mattel fashion doll that accompanies her Barbie when she spoke to TIME about the possibility of a sequel.
“It could go a million different directions from this point. But I think you fall into a bit of a trap if you try and set up a first movie whilst also planning for sequels,” she said. Fair.

What’s interesting is what Ryan had to say to The New York Times. “I went on the ride and I’m still going on it. I don’t want to leave the park. They are kicking me out. ‘The park is closing, sir.’ But I ordered churros and they are coming, I swear,” he expressed.

Additionally, Ryan voiced his interest in reprising the doll in a Ken sequel in an interview with ET Now. “I don’t know. You’d have to ask Greta that. I would work with Greta and Margot on anything,” he concluded when asked if he would be down for a sequel and what it would look like.

Finally, Mattel’s CEO Ynon Kreiz talked about how Barbie is “the beginning of a new franchise” and even went on to express excitement about the possibility of “more Barbie movies” according to Collider.

So, will there be a Ken sequel to Barbie starring Ryan Gosling?
It makes perfect sense why a Ken sequel to Barbie is being discussed RN. Ryan’s comedic performance in the film is already being hailed as a show-stealing one that even could go on to nab an Academy Award.
It’s so wild watching Ryan Gosling in #Barbie because he really is as good as you’ve heard but also somehow SO much better and so much MORE??? An instant performance for the ages and I’m so serious about the Oscar campaign, this performance needs cemented in film history pic.twitter.com/LpdC6RPwAi
