As you all know, celebrities on Instagram Live have been booming since the lockdown. From Justin Bieber to Kylie Jenner, they all have something to say (and we all want to hear it).
Miley Cyrus started a live series called Bright Minded as a means to stay “LIT” during these dark times; and it’s kind of genius.
Selena Gomez was one of the most recent guests and it’s safe to say every Wizards-of-Waverly-Place-Hannah-Montana-Disney-loving nerd was totally geeking out *13-year-old-me-washyperventilating.*
Mental Health was a major topic during their twenty minute discussion. Selena revealed that she was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Bear in mind the Rare artist was previously diagnosed with Lupus and had to undergo a kidney transplant back in 2017.
Selena said that understanding her condition “made the fear go away”.
She also stated that she had witnessed mental health in her family.
“I’ve seen some of it even in my own family, where I’m like, ‘What’s going on? I’m from Texas. It’s just not known to talk about mental health” she said. “You got to seem cool. And then I see anger built up in children and teenagers or whatever young adults because they are wanting that so badly. I just feel like when I finally said what I was going to say, I wanted to know everything about it. And it took the fear away.”
We pray she’s happy and healthy.
