Miley Cyrus is a woman for the masses and is the gift that keeps on giving. It has officially been 15 years since Hannah Montana was introduced to the world and we feel ~ways~ about it, and turns out we’re not alone. Miley penned a whole two-page letter to her alter-ego (on *Hannah Montana* themed paper too) this anniversary. And better yet, she took to Twitter to share it with the world.

“Hi Hannah — It’s been a while. Fifteen years to be exact. Since the first time I slid those blonde bangs over my forehead in the best attempt to conceal my identity. Then slipped into a puke-pink terry cloth robe with a bedazzled ‘HM’ over the heart,” she wrote.  “I didn’t know then… that is where you would live forever. Not just in mine, but in millions of people around the world. Although you are considered to be an ‘alter ego,’ in reality, there was a time in my life when you held more of my identity in your glove than I did in my bare hands.”

Miley went on to reminisce over how Hannah skyrocketed Miley’s path to fame. “You were like a rocket that flew me to the moon + never brought me back down,” she wrote… “You + I have been through it all together my friend.”

She recalled the ups and downs, from first loves (and first periods) to losing her grandfather but gaining her newfound family: Emily Osment (Lilly Truscott), Mitchel Musso (Oliver Oken) and Jason Earles (Jackson Stewart).

“You have all my love and utmost gratitude. Breathing life into you for those six years was an honor. I am indebted not only to you Hannah but to any and everyone who believed in me from the beginning. You all have my loyalty and deepest appreciation until the end. With all sincerity, I say thank you,” Miley wrote towards the end of her letter.

She signs off “I love you Hannah Montana. Forever, Miley,” and we are officially sobbing. By the way, in case you were wondering, Hannah replied too.

Thanks for giving us the best childhood, Hannah/Miley.Â
