Dubai-based influencers Sonia and Fyza are under intense scrutiny on social media following recent events including a voice note leak, and a racist altercation towards a fan. The makeup artists have been living in the UAE for the last eight years and have amassed 1.3 million followers on IG in that time.

The two sisters are mostly known for their similarities to reality TV stars Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner. And they also have a fashion collection with Missguided.

This morning, one of the sisters took to her Instagram stories to discuss the backlash that the duo are receiving, saying that they won’t apologise and people need to know “both sides” of the whole story.

According to the voice message leak, a fan from the UK spoke badly towards Sonia and Fyza’s mother who had recently passed. Fyza then responded with racial slurs via Snapchat voice message, which was then screen recorded.

Many of the influencers’ followers are displaying disdain towards them, and fashion brand Missguided has even commented on a TikTok video of the leak saying, “this video has recently been brought to our attention and we do not tolerate any form or racism or discrimination.”

The fan in question who leaked the video has not spoken on the subject yet.
