Cosmo ME: What’s the last thing that made you angry?
Huda: It was my friend. I believe that feeling angry always comes as a result of something wrong with your friendships or your work. Anything else can make you feel sad, but not angry.
C: Who’s the most inspirational woman in your life?
H: My answer may seem a little bit narcissistic, yet the most inspirational woman in my life is myself. I fall sometimes, but I always do my best carrying on my messages in life regardless of the consequences. So, I’m this independent person who comes back stronger every time I fall without any support from anyone, as I don’t like receiving help.
C: What’s the one thing that is not good for you, but you always do?
H: My answer is falling in love. Every time I promise myself that I won’t do that again, but to no avail. Actually, this is not good for me, but that’s how I’m like; I always fall to these heart-related issues.
C: What is your ultimate beauty hack?
H: It’s my hair. I always work on treatments for my hair and wear different hair styles, tying it up and braiding it to make it seem thick.
C: How did you first get into acting?
H: Through auditions. I attended many auditions, yet I couldn’t make my way to any of them. Afterwards, some director heard of me and asked me to take an audition and I got accepted!
C: Who inspires you?
H: Actually, no one person inspires me. What inspires me most are the places and the events that I find myself and my ambitions in. Unlike most of people I like the desert more than the sea and the sun. Actually, I’m willing to spend most of my journeys at the desert. Also, I’m always keen on spending my new year in desert-related and soul purifying places. So, my answer is that it’s not a person, it’s a place and it’s the desert.
C: Tell us about a scene you had the most fun shooting?
H: A scene in Kaeno Embareh (a TV series,) when we were on a felucca ride on the Nile. Actually, I wasn’t in a good mood back then, but surprisingly, once we started dancing I laughed my heart out, forgot about everything, including the scene and the series itself.
C: How does it feel to be an Arab female actress representing Egypt, where cinema is so huge?
H: It’s really hard in all aspects, in respect of how to choose the good role that really reflects my messages in life and how every little thing I do makes a difference. Besides, it’s a huge industry with many big and prominent names, so one can easily get lost if he didn’t work on himself and choose the roles that fits him. I also believe that the diversity of roles plays a big part highlighting the actor and his skills.
C: Tell us briefly about your acting journey and your latest work?
H: My acting journey started when I decided to study acting, which followed my school days where I have always lingered in the theatre and spent plenty of times rehearsing for dance shows and plays. Despite the fact that I have never worked on plays, I always had this connection and love for theatre. After studying acting, I kept going to auditions until one day it clicked and then started my career path.
C: What actors do you dream of working with?
H: There are plenty of them. I think most of them are directors. I was so lucky to collaborate with director Marwan Hamed, it was a dream that came true. Likewise with c, I would love to repeat this magical experience over and over with her. She is such a super star, I learned a lot through my collaboration with her. From the younger generation, I’d love to collaborate with Saba Mubarak. She is smart, strong and pretty. I love her so much and I aspire to become like her one day.
C: If you could have played any iconic movie or TV role, what would it have been and why?
H: There are many.. for instance, I’m always intrigued by the main character in Ihsan Abelqodous’s novel El Nadara El Sawdaa (Black Shades). Of course the salient Nadia Lotfy has played it perfectly, however if I ever had the chance to play this character, I would never hesitate. Also, I really wanted to play Maleficent. It tackled this different perspective of the character, it showcased the other side of the same person, revealing the reasons behind the motives of the villain before they became a villain.
C: A movie you can’t wait to watch that comes out next year?
H: It’s definitely 1919, I would love to watch it on screen. I really can’t wait for an entire year to watch it. Actually, regardless I had the chance to play a small role in the film, the behind-the-scenes preparations, props, and everything on set is amazing. It has all the international standards, which makes me so curious to see how it will end up like on screen.
