The persian pop artist has definitely been busing whilst in lockdown, her latest single “Into It” is the new tune on everyone’s lips – fr, that record is fire. The singer talks with Cosmopolitan Middle East about the inspiration behind “Into It”, her *highly* anticipated EP, how she’s been holding up during quarantine, and all things in between.

On her new song

“This song is about a relationship that is all consuming, the kind where you make excuses for all sorts of negative behavior. A lot of us have been in these types of relationships where no matter how bad the situation may become, you find yourself going back.”

“I actually had this song finished before COVID! But it’s definitely crazy to re-listen to this song now because it makes me think about where I was then and where I am now,” she added.

On what her creativity process looks like

“Anytime I write a song I always start on my guitar, and then the melodies and lyrics follow. I try not to force the process, it just happens when I feel like I wanna write!”

On being a Savage x Fenty ambassador

The songwriter told Cosmo ME how it feels to be a part of a brand that empowers women so beautifully. She said, “not only do I love their pieces but I love what Fenty stands for. It is such an honor to be working with a brand that supports women of all shapes, sizes, races, and sexualities. I love how inclusive they are as a company.”

On the beauty product she always recommend

“I love my Salicylic Wash from Ayur-Medic, I’ve been using it forever.”

On the societal pressure she rebels against

“It’s definitely been challenging [being from a conservative background] in a lot of ways, especially within my own family. It’s sort of an unspoken thing, still, surprisingly enough. Within my own country there’s so much more to be done in terms of LGBTQ rights. My biggest dream is to be able to perform there [in Iran] one day.”

On what can we expect from her upcoming EP

“Every song on the ep represents a toxic trait from a relationship I had been in that I want to cut out of my life. Whether that means having an ego, self-sabotaging, being naive, or involving myself in unnecessary chaos.”
