Former Cosmo ME cover star, Elnaz Golrokh, has been busy in lockdown. Adding another string to her impressive bow, the Iranian fashion and beauty influencer has now added singer to her CV.
We caught up with Elnaz to find out all the deets of her new song and music video…
Cosmo ME: Tell us about your new song, Just Follow Me?
Elnaz Golrokh: The video is about a girl and a guy during quarantine. They both see each other with their imaginations and feel that they are together. At the end of the video, the guy wakes up and felt it was a dream – until he sees a note. The woman had written “just follow me” and it ends on a cliffhanger. So maybe the next video will explain what really happened *wink emoji*.
Cosmo ME: What was the inspiration behind the video?
EG: Being in isolation at home and trying to stay positive. Music is outside our comfort zone, but we thought, why not? We made this whole video at home with our own equipment.
Cosmo ME: Let’s talk about the fashion and beauty. What is your favourite outfit from the shoot?
EG: All the outfits are from my personal wardrobe. The Victoria’s Secret bodysuit is my favourite!
Cosmo ME: And the make-up…?
EG: I used a lot of Charlotte Tilbury and Pat McGrath to recreate the beauty looks. I was inspired by Ariana Grande and Nicole Ccherzinger – effortless and sexy!
Cosmo ME: Are you going to create a whole album?
EG: The music video was initially made as an act of positivity activity during the pandemic. After we released it, however, it started trending online and hit #19 on YouTube, which has made me take this more seriously.
The idea and concept of the song was great, so London-based Iranian-British singer and producer, Babak Rahnama, had the idea of creating a Deep House version of the song with the goal of making it an international hit. Babak spoke to Universal Music & INGrooves Music Distribution to release the song worldwide. This summer might see this song becoming a worldwide smash hit.
So maybe after its release we’ll consider an album!
Cosmo ME: Which other artists are you inspired by right now?
EG: Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris
Cosmo ME: When will you release your next music video?
EG: Maybe next month, maybe next year. Watch this space!
