As far as Arab series go, this Ramadan has been packed with new shows starring all your favourite actresses, from Yasmine Sabri and Nadine Nassib Njeim, to Mona Zaki and Nelly Karim. But there has been one leading lady noteably missing from our screens…

Hend Sabry has yet to make any sorts of appearances or cameos in this year’s Ramadan series – and now we know why. The Egyptian creative has been working on a new series, with streaming giants Netflix.

Hend is starring a brand-new drama-comedy, of which her company SALAM Production, are also the executive products of. Whilst we’re still waiting on a name and an official release date to be announced, Netflix has confirmed that the new show is expected to be filmed in Egypt, and production is expected to start in autumn 2020.

“We are excited to work with  Hend Sabry, one of the Arab world’s most iconic actresses, who won the hearts of Arab audiences throughout her career. Hend’s new show is a female-focused story that we are sure fans will connect with,” said Ahmed Sharkawi, Director of Arabic Original Series at Netflix.

“I am excited to work on a female-focused show, with Netflix, I am also thrilled about my first experience as an executive producer and how with Netflix we can create content that features stories from the Arab world and to be seen by the world,” added Hend Sabry.
