Unless you’ve been living under a rock (which tbh, we don’t blame you these days), you’ve probably been noticing that a lot of celebs and us common people alike are getting the ponytail filler. Since we’re always up for trying the latest and greatest in the world of aesthetics, we went to visiting celebrity cosmetic doctor, Dr. Rasha Rakhshani, to find out a lil’ more about this procedure and test it out for ourselves. Keep reading to find out more.

Ponytail filler 101

First thing first, what exactly *is* a ponytail lift? “It consists of filler placed strategically in the temple region. This causes a lift to that area which in turn lifts the eyelids. It’s given that name because it gives your face the same effect as you would have when your hair is tied up in a ponytail. As far as who it’s best for, anyone can get it if they want to have that pulled back, snatched look.”

“Ponytail filler corrects the eyelids and lifts the sagging around that area. The results last about two years, and our clients love that they’re immediate. Some people with facial asymmetry opt to get this treatment too. I add a little bit more on the side that’s droopier to cause more of a lift and get the face symmetrical.”

Quality over quantity

These days, it seems like there’s lots of conflicting info out there about what type of filler is best. “I use many different types of filler, but I use the best in the market. The three well-known brands I use are Teosyal, Juvederm and Restylane. The number of injections needed varies person to person. That’s why I always recommend a consultation, because everyone is so different.”

Tbh, one of our biggest fears in aesthetics is getting botched. We’re always for getting recommendations about finding the right doctor for our needs. “I recommend going to someone who is experienced. When you get ponytail filler, the area getting injected has a lot of vessels as well as with the rest of the face.”

“It’s essential that the doctor knows anatomy and what they’re doing. They need to use the best quality products and be highly trained. It’s also important that they look natural themselves. As far as red flags go, avoid a doctor who wants you to keep getting more and more procedures and treatments done. Also, avoid anyone who’s working from a dodgy location or if the clinic looks messy and dirty.”

Speaking of treatments, “usually I like to do ponytail filler with Botox, because I do my Botox in a very specific way where it kind of lifts the eyelids up as well, so it helps aid that lifted result. My patients love this. When I do my consultations, I see what the patient needs. Sometimes it’s not what they expect, or much less than they expected. If I can recommend one thing, it’s that it’s very important to come in for a consultation, because I have a very different view to other people or maybe other doctors.”

I tried it

I visited Dr. Rasha to get my very own ponytail filler experience. Before taking out the needles, she stayed true to her word and gave me a detailed consultation. During my consult, she examined my facial structure and explained the personal plan she crafted for me and showed where she would inject both filler and her recommend coinciding Botox. In addition to my ponytail filler, she used her special Botox technique to give my eyebrows an extra lift. Dr. Rasha used her special technique to lift my cheekbones and soften my smile lines ~without~ making my face look overfilled and fake.

Highly recommend the white stuff. (It’s numbing cream).

I was numbed up and once my face felt like it was zenned out, the injections began. Thanks to the Emla cream, I only felt a gentle pinch with each injection. After the filler was placed, Dr. Rasha used her hands to sculpt the filler to give me that snatched look. The injections took around 20 minutes, and I could see the results instantly. Dr. Rasha explained that over the next two weeks, they would become pronounced and would last for two years.

My before and after speak for itself. I’m so pleased with how my treatment turned out.

Two weeks later, and I’m thrilled with my results. My ponytail filler looks oh-so-natural and no one can tell I had anything done. Even my skin looks so much better from the hyaluronic acid in the filler. I think I look younger and like a more beautiful version of me. Highly recommend.
