If there’s anything you should know about a Cosmo girl, it’s that we’re always up for trying out new skin treatments…especially ones that promise to defy time and gravity. The way I see it, as I’m watching the new SATC reboot, I’ll be looking the same as when I watched the original series. Skincare is self-care, hayati!
I arrived at Body Smart and my microneedling profesh, Aneta, explained that the microneedling process involves creating tiny wounds in the skin. The body heals these punctures by creating more collagen and elastin. This gives us firmer and more youthful-looking skin (over time) and helps to even out skin texture. *bye-bye acne scars*
Aneta doused my skin in a thick layer of peptide serum and got to werkkkk. The microneedling felt like someone with coffin-shaped nail extensions (think pointy) repeatedly scratched my face. It wasn’t painful but at the same time I didn’t mindlessly wander off into zen-landia filled with kitten memes and cappucinos. But hey, as long as it works, I don’t care.
After the microneedling was done, Aneta bestowed upon my face a slice of heaven. An ultra-rich retinol serum was placed on my skin with a cooling and soothing mask on top. The mask was hooked to the DF machine, which (painlessly) uses electrodes to push all that anti-aging goodness deep into my skin.
Afterwards my skin was a nice shade of bubblegum pink for a few days before my glowiest and most gorgeous skin ever emerged. The results had me *shooketh*. My skin looked amazing!
Side note- It takes about 6 months to see the firming results and Aneta suggests getting the facial treatment every 6-8 weeks. If you want to supplement at-home between treatments and upgrade your #shelfie with a dermaroller, look for no more than 0.1- 0.2 mm roller. Dermarollers give enhanced product penetration to help you get the most out of your serums. Just make sure you sanitize it like crazy between each use!
