Laura Mercier has been a household name in the beauty industry for as long as anyone can remember. From their translucent powder going viral to their primers becoming staple products in our makeup arsenals, this brand has been at the forefront of the beauty industry. And since Cosmotel (and Cosmo ME) are all about beauty, we *had* to have Laura Mercier join us and spill all the good stuff.
And so as we eagerly waited for them to teach us how to perfect the ‘flawless face’ look, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that all it takes is just four steps. All you need is some primer, concealer, foundation and power. That’s all, sounds too good to be true right now, doesn’t it?
Regional MUA for Laura Mercier, Muriel Abou Gebrael, took us through the whole look on her beautiful model. She started off by prepping the skin with their hydrating face cream using her hands to rub the product in and minimize the use of tools. And although I’m personally guilty of forgetting this, Muriel was diligent about it. Muriel added some eye cream to rejuvenate her eyes and thoroughly hydrate the skin.
Laura Mercier has six different types of primers that are perrrrfect for all skin types and the easiest way to pick between them all depends on what finish you want. Also, we’ve heard about layering makeup but what about primer? Well, turns out, that’s totally okay to do too!
Also, a lil insider pro-tip: Silicon enlarges your pores. So when you’re looking to buy a primer, make sure you’re not purchasing something with silicon in it. Or just only buy Laura Mercier primers and then you won’t have that problem.
She then applied the Laura Mercier Illuminating Foundation which is also perfect for *all* skin types. I mean, could they make it any easier for us? Ugh, I’m in love.
Muriel also told us that at Laura Mercier, they believe that foundation is for balancing the skin tone as opposed to completely masking the face.
She applied concealer on the inner and outer corners of the model’s eyes and reminded us that this is one of those times where less is more. *makes mental note to not empty concealer tube on my face*
And if you’re someone that feels like you need a little more coverage, don’t put more quantity of the product on your skin, just add more layers.
Muriel also swears by the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colours. They’re super multifunctional and can double as eyeshadows and eye pencils. What’s more is that they’re crazy pigmented, don’t smudge *and* remain true to their colour for up to 12 hours. Um, brb while I literally order every single one.
Another pro-tip she shared with us was that the further away you hold your brush from your skin, the better the product will blend in.
Also, if you’ve ever wondered why you’ve never seen a Laura Mercier contour palette, it’s because they actually don’t believe in contouring. Their motto is what makes you unique, makes you beautiful. Aaaand now I’m in my feels.
They also don’t bake and prefer to naturally set the face since Laura Mercier’s purpose is to make beauty effortless. And now you’re wondering, “OK, but how do I bake my face?”
Well, we weren’t about to leave you high and dry. The right way to set your face using the ~famous~ Laura Mercier translucent powder is by using a puff and *only* using whatever product is on the lid. Again, less is more. The powder will stay on your skin for a whole 16 hours without needing a touch up.
I don’t know about y’all but I’m even more in love with Laura Mercier now (who knew that was even possible?). Time to go buy out every product in store.
