If, like myself, you tend to get overly dramatic when faced with a minor inconvenience, you’ll know how irritating it is when a spot, or five pop up on your face.
What’s even worse though is when you try and cover those bad boys with concealer and you spend five minutes dabbing, blending, dabbing, blending, trying to get your dodgy cover up job to blend in.
Which is why I had to share this tip with you that I learnt when watching Hung Vanngo’s recent makeup tutorial.
Whilst doing his ’90s supermodel look (which, side note, is literally my dream makeup), Hung explained that he gets a lot of requests for acne concealing tutorials.
When you’re Hung’s level of successful, you no longer need to please people and he simply explained that it’s not a video he’s interested in making.
Love that authority, Hung.
Instead, he shared the one mistake we’re all guilty of when it comes to spot concealing and genuinely it will make the biggest change to your base.
“I think the best way to cover any blemishes is use a concealer the same shade as the foundation,” he explained. “Most people use the same (lighter) concealer they use under the eyes to spot conceal, but using the same shade makes everything blend together. If you use a lighter concealer you’re going to see exactly where the pimple is.”
Honestly, I did kind of know this, it’s just that I’m kind of a lazy person and apparently using two concealers is one step too far for past me.
However, if I’m using a lighter concealer to brighten my dark circles, why am I going to illuminate my spots with the same one.
Gah, I infuriate myself.
Despite my laziness, I did manage to catch the exact concealer Hung used (Laura Mercier’s Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear) and make a note of every single makeup product used to create my dream look.
