Let’s face it, Mona Kattan’s Kayali Oud fragrances slapped. Coming off the popularity of her cultural collection, this beauty entrepreneur and star of Dubai Bling: Season 2 has bestowed a brand-new scent upon us, the vegan-friendly and cruelty-free Kayali Eden Sparkling Lychee l 39 eau de parfum. We chatted with the perfume princess on her latest aroma which she describes as an “an ode to positivity.” Read on to find out everything you need to know about your new favourite juice.
An invitation to reconnect with our inner child
If there was ever a time we needed a ray of light, it’d be right now. “My hope is that everyone who smells it immediately gets the burst of joy that I personally feel with Eden Sparkling Lychee | 39. I wanted to create a fragrance that translates a feeling of playfulness of the lychee ingredient through scent. My new perfume is a fun, radiant and confident fragrance, it reminds me of such positivity and good times. To create this juice, I collaborated closely with Firmenich and the incredibly talented Gabriela Chelariu to capture the lusciousness and vibrancy of lychee in a bottle.” We’re feeling more uplifted already.
The second chapter
Sparkling Lychee is our second chapter to the Eden family, which originated with Eden Juicy Apple | 01, a playful and youthful fragrance. Although both fragrances share a vibrant, fruity, and floral spirit that makes your mouth water, the ingredients are very different. I love the immediate confidence this fragrance brings with every spritz.”
Speaking of ingredients, what are the notes in Eden Sparkling Lychee | 39? The fragrance “opens with notes of blackcurrant, sparkling lychee, italian lemon, and red apple. Transitioning to the heart of the fragrance, you will get a bouquet of flirty florals with rose damascene, candied violet, and jasmine sambac. As the juice dries down, you will get a warm and very inviting base with notes of sugared amber, vanilla, and musk.”
“We wanted the dry down of the perfume to stay as captivating as its key notes, with a warm, earthy, and sweet trail that follows you everywhere. The uniqueness of this fragrance comes from the actual mouth-watering effect it creates. Working with our amazing perfume house, they create perfumes that can make the notes go beyond smell – where you can almost taste them with every spritz.”

Is there such a thing as writer’s block for perfume creation? Turns out, when you’re Mona Kattan, the answer is no. “My inspiration comes from everywhere. It could be from a song, a colour, or a moment. I do love very specific notes, such as vanilla which became such a big part of our DNA. Kayali has its own approach to fragrance creation, but my inspiration really comes from anywhere – my favourite dessert is what inspired Yum Pistachio Gelato | 33.”
“I love listening to our community. I’m very active on social media to watch as many reviews and read as many comments as I can on our platforms. We are even working on bringing a beloved scent back next year because of all the love we received on it. It’s so motivating to see all the love we get.” Love is something she certainly gets. On Instagram alone, there are over 81k posts using the Kayali hashtag and on TikTok, there’s a whopping 276 million views of videos containing the Kayali tag. Good thing Huda Beauty’s GloWish Multidew Skin Tint Foundation has blue light protection in it because Mona must be spending *a lot* of time on the apps.
When asked for a sneak peek into potential collabs or new scents, Mona was pretty coy. “You never know what the future holds. Right now, we have so many fragrances in the works, I’m just so excited to share what we have been working on.”
