No joke, everyone is in Ibiza this summer. From Ed Sheeran to Rita Ora and Love Island host Caroline Flack, celebs can’t get enough of the unbeatable sunsets, sparkling sea views and buzzing party atmosphere.

After touching down in the Balearics and checking in to the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza on the south-west coast, I make like the A-List and headed straight to my private sea-view room. Usually, I’d already be frantically scrabbling for the room card, but this time I’m stress-free. Why? I’ve been given an electronic wristband that acts as room key and wallet. Basically, I can charge anything to the room by just waving it around to staff. And it’s waterproof. Genius.

Speaking of water, a hugely important part of any hotel for me is its dedication to striving to become as eco-friendly as possible. I was pleased to see a card in the bathroom offering a service of daily fresh bedsheets and towels but encouraging the option to reuse: “You’ll help us protect the environment with this small gesture,” it read. The card also asked guests to turn off running water and switch off the TV, lights and air conditioning when not in use. Good.

I want to explore the rest of the grand, marble-floored hotel (there are 493 rooms and suites, so to say there is a lot of ground to cover is an understatement), but first, breakfast: ‘It’s a beautiful day, don’t let it get away,’ a sign hanging over freshly chopped fruit, eggs and bread tells me in the restaurant named Sessions. Noted. I grab the nearest juice (today’s is spinach, kiwi and watermelon), pile up a plate of local goodness, pass the live singer performing a lovely rendition of 1965 hit Rescue Me by Fontella Bass and tuck in.

The tour of the hotel commences, and I notice Hard Rock memorabilia chicly displayed throughout – think Will.i.am’s sunglasses, Britney Spears’ 2000 Grammy Awards gown, Rihanna’s stage outfit from her 2010-2011 ‘Last Girl on Earth’ tour and Demi Lovato’s guitar. Amazing.

Outside, there are two pools with seemingly endless sunbeds and a separate spa pool. The lavish Rock Spa has loads of beauty treatments created to recharge those batteries, including the Synchronicity (€140/Dhs576), which is a massage ‘choreographed’ to the rhythm of a specially created soundtrack. So casual.

Ibiza can be pricey, so as I lounge by one of the pools I’m thrilled when a member of staff offers me a complimentary wristband, which when worn gives discount to Hï Ibiza and Ushuaia (which sees stars David Guetta and Calvin Harris spinning the decks this season).

During my three-night stay I make full use of the hotel’s dining options. The Beach, a Mediterranean dining hotspot situated on Playa d’en Bossa beach, serves the best pumpkin risotto and banoffee pie I’ve ever gorged on (diet starts Monday?) and The Ninth – Ibiza’s highest roof terrace – pours delicious mocktails and views for days.

Before I’m forced to check-out of this little piece of heaven, I pay a visit to the Rock Shop, and stock up on a Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza t-shirt, cap and bag (budgeting starts Monday?). All that’s left to say is thank you, Hard Rock, for making me feel like a total rock star this summer.
