Razor-thin brows, a glittery cut crease, and dark-lined glossy lips, Rhea Raj is loud without having to say much. She is the desi pop star we’ve all been waiting for. Think Christina Aguilera meets Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom. The New York raised singer is making waves with her flirty fusion of desi rhythms and bratty Y2K pop energy.
Cosmopolitan Middle East interviews Rhea on her artistry and what’s next. Her tracks feel like the soundtrack to your hottest night out, and with her latest EP Commotion, she’s here to make you feel entirely main character. Just hit play.
CosmoME: What era are you in of your pop artist journey?
Rhea: Commotion era.
CosmoME: What’s your connection to Dubai? Any favourite Dubai memories?
Rhea: My mom grew up in Dubai and I got to go back with her and my grandparents in 2016 to visit. We got shawarma and walked along the beach, which was a fond childhood memory. Also, riding ATVs through the desert dunes was so wild.
CosmoME: Any upcoming news?
Rhea: I just released my EP ‘COMMOTION’ and have a sick techno remix for one of the songs coming out this week! I’m in a big visual era right now, so expect maximalist looks and statement videos at my live shows very soon.
We ❤️ her song, Mumbai. Listen to the rest of the album here:
