Dewy, glazed, and now glossy makeup…it seems we never tire of the plump, high-shine finish. Glossy makeup is the latest addition to the trending illuminated makeup lineup. But what sets it apart? We’re breaking down the components of glossy makeup to give you all the makeup inspo!

Your guide to glossy makeup:

Dewy skin aims to achieve the look of a slight perspiration, with super-hydrated and plump skin as if you’ve just come out of a sauna. Glazed skin (thank you, Hailey Bieber), is a thicker, layering approach, where your skin is coated in shiny goodness to appear super-plump, almost sticky, to look shiny and radiant. Glossy makeup, however, is the ultra-shiny, almost glittery alternative that focuses on a light-catching, reflective finish.

Achieving either look, however, means taking some components from each. Glossy makeup is rooted in the groundwork of dewy skin, building on hydration and priming, and using water-based products. With a little shimmer and shine, the gloss on the skin can be accentuated to achieve that ultra-shiny finish.
