What is MDLBEAST Soundstorm?
Originally launched by Saudi music entertainment company MDLBEAST in 2019 with the goal of presenting “the most stellar DJ lineup Saudi Arabia has ever seen,” the event has evolved from a local festival into an international extravaganza. This transformation brings together music enthusiasts from around the world at a spectacular venue in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Spanning three days, the eclectic festival incorporates a diverse range of international music, art, and culture. Committed to delivering a sensational three days of music, MDLBEAST Soundstorm’s electrifying lineup for 2023 includes Chris Brown, Swedish House Mafia, Metallica, J Balvin and much more. However, the excitement doesn’t stop there, as the stage in Riyadh has also been set ablaze by an impressive array of local and regional talent.
Here are all the ways Soundstorm 2023 is going green this year
Clean energy-powered stages
In a Saudi Arabian festival first, Soundstorm’s artist stages will be powered by clean energy (biodiesel)! And if you’re at the Media Center or Artist Village, guess what? They’re on biodiesel, hydrogen, and solar energy too!
Reducing water waste
Water is precious, and Saudi Arabia sure knows it! This festival is making waves, with four new water treatment units that recycle grey water, saving a massive amount of water waste. It’s a new and permanent initiative – making sustainability a rhythm at our festival.

BIG BEAST
Just like the monumental structures in Saudi Arabia, BIG BEAST is now a permanent stage at the festival. The materials, shipping, and energy saved are astronomical, echoing the kingdom’s commitment to resource efficiency.
Composting food waste
This festival is turning food waste into gold! With 2 state-of-the-art composting bins, starting as a pilot program in Crew Catering Tents this year. Let’s turn this green initiative into a site-wide symphony!
Eco-friendly dining
All food serving products in Crew Catering are now biodegradable and/or recyclable. Soundstorm is leading the way in making festival meals eco-friendly.
Donations to local organizations
Good vibes and good deeds! Unused meals from Crew Catering are being donated to local organizations across Saudi Arabia, spreading the love not just within the festival but beyond during the build phase.
Site-wide recycling program
Soundstorm’s eco-revolution is in full swing! The festival has a site-wide recycling program with a focus on reducing plastic water bottle use. With 9 water refill stations and 2000 refillable water bottles distributed to the crew, they can reduce single-use plastic across the site. And it doesn’t stop there! They also save a whopping 150,000 bottles by switching to biodegradable cups in pit areas. Cheers to a greener festival experience!
