Bad news, gals. Netflix’s password sharing is over for those who live in different households 😢. The new rule came into action today, July 20, for UAE residents, Khaleej Times reported. But how will Netflix know that you and your bestie live in different households? Is it even possible to add new members? We’ve got all the answers for you.

First of all, a Netflix customer service representative officially confirmed to Khaleej Times that the new restrictions are on in the UAE. The same thing has already happened in the US, Australia, Germany and some other countries. So we are not the only ones who are dealing with it 🥲.
“Now, only members living in the same house can share passwords and use the same account,” the representative said. “It cannot be used in a house across the street, for example.”

Is there a way to get away with new Netflix password sharing restrictions?
Actually, no. The WiFi network and IP address of your devices can be seen, and this is how they know that you are not in the same household. So, password sharing won’t work.
What happens with Netflix when someone travels?
The new restrictions will not apply when someone is travelling. You can use your own phone to login to your account or a new TV in a hotel or a rental.
