Just when our lives began to feel empty of some vampire-werewolf love triangle drama, it seems the time might have arrived for a long-awaited Twilight reboot. In a recent episode of Josh Horowitz’s Watch-a-long podcast, renowned director Catherine Hardwicke shared her dreams of what a Twilight reboot would look like.
Somewhat more importantly, she says Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi would be ‘perfect’ in a potential reboot of the beloved franchise. Erm, YES, please!
Who would star in a Twilight reboot?
When quizzed about her picks for the lead roles of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, originally portrayed by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, Hardwicke enthusiastically endorsed the idea of Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi taking on the iconic characters.
“I mean, he’s amazing. He probably would be Edward today,” Hardwicke said of Elordi, citing his talent and even recommending his latest film, Saltburn, to the podcast host.
The seasoned filmmaker also expressed her admiration for Jenna Ortega, agreeing wholeheartedly with Horowitz’s suggestion for the role of Bella. “I mean, of course, you just mentioned Jenna Ortega. She’s amazing,”.

Will there be a Twilight reboot?
Delving into the future of the Twilight franchise, Hardwicke addressed the news of a reported Twilight reboot in development at Lionsgate TV, as reported by Variety in April. While she admitted not having concrete details about the new adaptation, she speculated that the writers’ strike might have caused delays in the development.

Intriguingly, Hardwicke revealed her desire to take the beloved saga in an entirely different direction. “For me, it would be fun to do Twilight in outer space,” she shared, expressing her enthusiasm for a fresh and unconventional approach to the well-loved storyline. “I would be ecstatic to do that, something totally different.”
As fans eagerly await updates on the Twilight series and potential reboots, Hardwicke’s imaginative casting choices certainly add an exciting twist to the future of the fantasy franchise. And we’re totally on board with ANYTHING starring Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi!
