Mean Girls
Release date: January 12, 2024
Get in, loser! Almost two decades after its original release, the cult classic movie is getting a highly-anticipated revival, but with a super fun twist. Following the success of the original, the Mean Girls movie was later adapted into a Tony-nominated Broadway musical in 2018. Hollywood star Tina Fey, who wrote and directed the original movie, announced a screen adaptation of the Broadway show, reviving the iconic movie once again. It’s movie adaptation of the musical adaptation of the original movie… duh! So grab your army pants and flip flops, and let’s try to finally make ‘fetch’ happen..
Dune: Part Two
Release date: March 15, 2024
Originally set for a November 2023 release, Dune: Part Two is now expected to be released in cinemas on March 15, 2024. Filming for the sequel took place on location in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Italy and, judging by the trailer, we’re in for a wild ride. The sequel follows Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet), Chani (Zendaya), and the Fremen as they fight to take back their land before it’s too late. Expect everything from a Timothee and Zendaya romance to a nightmarish egg-head Austin Butler (yes, really), Dune: Part Two is expected to be the biggest sci-fi movie of 2024.
It Ends With Us
Release date: Febuary 9, 2024
BookTok, it’s time. Colleen Hoover’s 2016 bestselling novel It Ends With Us is one of the biggest success stories of the BookTok movement. The beloved story is officially being adapted for the big screen – with Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni taking center stage as the main characters. Whilst some fans of the book have responded with backlash to the casting choices, we’re sure this movie will have us all in our rom-com feels.
Inside Out 2
Release date: June 14, 2024
The beloved animated movie is back with a sequel next summer, promising a deeper exploration of Riley’s mind as new emotions begin to appear in her life. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios, Inside Out 2 is set to be Pixar’s 28th animated feature.
A Quiet Place: Day One
Release date: June 28, 2024
A Quiet Place: Day One, is a spinoff prequel set at the start of the franchise’s apocalypse, taking us back to the first day of the invasion. John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place franchise takes place in a post-apocalyptical world infested by bloodthirsty creatures that hunt with a heightened sense of hearing. We just know we’ll be on the edge of our seats through the entire movie! While it was previously due in March 2024, the studio has now announced a June 28, 2024, premiere.
Mufasa: The Lion King
Release date: June 5, 2024
Mufasa: The Lion King is yet another live-action computer-animated film adaption of the original Disney movie, albeit this time breaking away from the source material, as we take a closer look at Mufasa’s earlier life. The sequel promises an incredible CGI exploration of the origins of Simba’s late father. Mufasa: The Lion King is set to be released on July 5, 2024.
Beetlejuice 2
Release date: September 6, 2024
Say his name three times, and he shall appear again in 2024, as the cult classic movie is making its grand return in time for next year’s Halloween szn. The new movie will be a sequel to the original comedy movie about Beetlejuice, a ghost hired to help haunt a house. The best part? Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are returning to reprise their original roles, with the exciting addition of Wednesday star Jenna Ortega as the daughter of Ryder’s character. We can’t wait!

Joker: Folie à Deux
Release date: TBC, 2024
Remember the Joker hype of 2019? Well buckle in for round two, as Todd Phillips’ sequel, Joker: Folie a Deux, is set to be the biggest movie of 2024. 2019’s Joker was one of the best reviewed movies of the 21st century and even won Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar for Best Male Performance thanks to his rendition of the iconic villain. With the world eagerly awaiting a trailer for the second installment, we have been blessed with some teaser images featuring Phoenix back as Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga who is stepping into the role of the iconic Harley Quinn. It seems next year’s Halloween costumes are already sorted.
Wicked Part 1
Release date: November 27, 2024
Ever since Ariana Grande was cast as Glinda in the movie adaption of the Tony-winning Broadway musical, Wicked, we’ve been obsessed. With only small glimpses and a couple of set photos to get us excited, 2024 will *finally* give us what we’re waiting for. The movie will be split into two parts, with Wicked: Part 1 hitting our screens on November 27. Cynthia Erivo will play the infamous Elphaba, and Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey will join the cast as Fiyero, the main love interest. Get ready for some spectacular musical numbers, insane set design and *that* pink dress.

What to watch in 2024: best TV shows releases
Bridgerton (season 3)
Release date: TBC, 2024
Bridgerton still well and truly has our hearts. Get ready, folks – because season 3 is coming in 2024 and will center on the love story of Colin and Penelope. The release was delayed due to the SAG strike, and is now expected to hit our screens around summer 2024. Although Phoebe Dynevor, who portrayed Daphnie, has announced that she won’t be returning to season 3, expect to see much of your other fave characters return for another season of regal drama.
Squid Game (season 2)
Release date: TBC, 2024
Unless you were living under a rock in 2021, you would have been as obsessed as we were with the Korean series, Squid Game. What quickly became Netflix’s most popular show, ever (!!), the series had the whole world hooked and left us on a *major* cliffhanger. Squid Game season 2 was officially confirmed in June 2022, and recently it was announced that Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo will all be returning for the second season.
Whilst no official release date is set, the second season is expected to arrive before the end of 2024. Whilst we wait impatiently, Netflix has released a new Squid Game reality show, where the largest cast in reality TV history will compete in a series of games inspired by the show for a prize of $4.56 million.
Wednesday (season 2)
Release date: TBC, 2024
Last year, Netflix’s hit show ‘Wednesday’ harnessed a new era of Addams family fans, almost sixty years after the original sitcom was released. Jenna Ortaga’s take on the ‘OG’ Goth Girl, Wednesday Addams truly had the entire world hooked (remember *that* viral dance?). The show’s popularity also brought with it a fashion phenomenon, Wednesdaycore as well as a global obsession of all things gothic. With a second season expected by fall 2024, fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the beloved character.

You (season 5)
Release date: TBC, 2024
‘You’ will return in 2024 for Joe Goldberg’s final chapter. After the shocking ending to the fourth season that changed the show as we know it, season 5 will have us hooked. The show’s star, Penn Badgley, has teased that a familiar face from Joe’s past may come back to haunt him. Expected for release in summer 2024, this is a binge-worthy season to look forward to.
The Summer I Turned Pretty (season 3)
Release date: TBC, 2024
Our last two summers have been fueled by our obsession with Belly and our constant battles between Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah. We expect summer 2024 to be no different, with our fave Cousins Beach characters set to return again for the show’s third season. Those who have read the books will know that season 3 will have us in for a RIDE. We can’t wait!
