The vote count revealed Riyadh secured an impressive 119 votes, with Busan trailing at 29 and Rome at 17, as reported by the Paris-based Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).
This triumph follows closely on the heels of Qatar’s successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2033, marking another feather in the cap for Gulf countries in securing major international events. The Kingdom‘s win not only cements its position as a global host but also paves the way for an even more monumental future for the Kingdom, as the nation is poised to host the EA Sports World Cup and the FIFA World Cup in 2034.

The Riyadh Expo is scheduled to unfold from October 2030 to March 2031 under the theme “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow.”
To bolster its bid, Riyadh enlisted the support of renowned football sensation Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for the capital’s Al Nassr club. The win holds profound significance for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s ambitious Vision 2030 program, designed to diversify the country’s economy and reduce dependence on oil revenues.
