Netflix’s new ‘Because She Created’ collection features 21 films created by Arab female filmmakers. The collection by the streaming giant aims to support Arab women within the film industry and amplify their creative voices globally.
The ‘Because She Created’ collection includes works from all over the MENA region and contains various genres including docuseries, dramas, romance, and so much more. The initiative highlights themes relatable to women from around the world as well as gives viewers a chance to understand female storytellers‘ lives reflected on screen.
“We’re proud to be telling more stories by Arab filmmakers that can resonate with women from all walks of life and from around the world. More women behind the camera also has a ripple effect on women in front of it and the stories in this collection showcase the work of Arab women filmmakers in the region” says Nuha el Tayeb, the Director of Content Acquisitions, Netflix (MENA and Turkey). “Together, their voices provide inspiration for the wider creative community, while highlighting the importance of equitable representation in storytelling, and why it matters.”
