Finally, and after a long wait, the brand-new Egyptian Original series, ‘Paranormal‘ (ما وراء الطبيعة) first Egyptian Paranormal series, will be released tomorrow.
Where to watch it?
The series will only be streaming on Netflix and available to 190 countries around the world in over 32 languages. It is also the first series to have audio and descriptions for the hearing or visually impaired.
What is Paranormal about?
The story depicts a series of paranormal activities that started when Dr. Refaat Ismail’s (actor and writer Ahmed Amin) life turned upside down after his lifelong scientific convictions are questioned. Based on the best selling thriller novel “Paranormal” by Ahmed Khaled Tawfik (which sold over 15 million copies!) the story follows Dr. Refaat, who is a cynical Hematologist with dark humor in his forties, in 1969.
Throughout the series, Dr. Refaat is accompanied by his university colleague, Maggie, (lebanese actress Razane Jammal), whom he never confessed his love for. They try to save their loved ones from the vast danger that surrounds them.
When will Paranormal be released?
Directed by Amr Salama and produced by Mohamed Hefzy, the series is filmed in Egypt, creating the first-ever Egyptian show that will be released towards the end of 2020. Previously, Amr Salama shared some of BTS shots with the crew under a hashtag, “It’s a wrap (فركش).”
Netflix is also releasing a new show starring Hend Sabri.
And if you can’t wait till then, here are three other Middle Eastern series to watch on Netflix right now: Jinn, Takki, and Wasawes, a.k.a Whispers.
