Emily In Paris is back for season three, and while viewers are happy to *finally* get an answer to the cliffhangers left by season two, they have noticed something a little bit strange about Gabriel.
In case you need a recap, viewers rejoined Emily Cooper (played by Lily Collins) in the city of love, as she battled with her feelings for both Alfie and Gabriel, and tried to choose between job opportunities.
*SPOILERS* In the fifth episode of the new season, Emily discovers she’s made it onto a list of the most influential people in Paris, while flicking through a magazine. Also on that list? Gabriel! But eagle-eyed fans have noticed, the chef doesn’t seem to have a surname, and is the only person on La Liste without one. What is he, like Madonna or something?

While Gabriel isn’t the only character without a known surname in Emily In Paris (not sure Alfie has one either), it’s weird for them not to create one for the purpose of the magazine. Because surely a profile of the hot chef would require one, right?
This didn’t go unnoticed on Twitter. “WHAT IS GABRIEL’S SURNAME??? #emilyinparis,” one person wrote, while another put, “What is Gabriel’s last name on Emily in Paris?“

Previously, creator Darren Star opened up about season three’s focus: What does Emily want her future to look like? “She has reasons to pick a number of doors at the end of season two,” he told TV Line. “And our challenge is deciding which of those doors she’s going to choose and why.”
“When you live in a foreign country, one of the questions is, where’s your heart?” he added. “Is it the place you came from, or the place you are at the moment? Emily is going to be struggling with that as well.”
Emily In Paris season 3 is now streaming on Netflix.
