Imagine everyone’s surprise when we realised how much PCR tests cost in the UAE, hint – it wasn’t a pleasant one. Yes, PCR tests are the ones you’ve seen on social media, with the tiny swabs being dug down people’s throats. It is not a cute sight to behold. 

You’ll want to hurry if you want to get your hands, well nose, on this baby as the Dubai Health Authority has just reduced the test fee to Dhs250 in an effort to encourage more testings. A tweet from the official twitter account of the ministry of health announced the reduction in price, saying;

“To encourage pre-emptive medical examinations as a precautionary and preventive measure, we reduced the cost of #COVID19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests to AED250 in #Dubai”

The initial cost of PCR was Dhs370 and that’s after paying a consultation fee of Dhs300, so far, the UAE has conducted over 8 million Covid-19 tests since the outbreak began in March.
